See That My Grave Is Kept Clean

(Background Info)

From No Direction Home, by Robert Shelton; pg. 123:

A traditional spiritual that Blind Lemon Jefferson made classic. Lemon recorded it for Paramount in October 1927. Released in February 1928, it became one of the best-known "race" recordings. When Blind Lemon learned the song, it was a folk spiritual called "Two White Horses In A Line," also known as "One Kind Favor." (Another "Two White Horses," a spiritual with different text and melody, appeared in Carl Sandburg's 1927 collection, The American Songbag.")
