- Also known as "Broke Down Engine Blues," "Broke Down Engine No.2."
- This song was recorded four times by Blind Willie McTell.
The first time was on 23 October 1931 in his home town of Atlanta,
Georgia. The next two versions were recorded on 18 September 1933
for Vocalion in New York City, the second being "No.2" and both
with Curley Weaver on back up guitar. The fourth was recorded
in 1949 under the name of Barrelhouse Sammy for the Atlantic record
label. Dylan learned the song from one or other of Blind Willie McTell's
recordings. Earlier versions include Lonnie Clark's from 21 September
1929 in Richmond, Indiana.
